CDS SystemTM

- A picture can say more than 1000 words-

The CDS System is the first Documentation System for soil compaction. It can be installed on all types of vibrating or oscillating roller.

Guide and Documentation System

A roller symbol on the screen continuously marks the position of the roller in the area. Compaction results are displayed while the roller is actually at work. At the end of a complete pass over the entire area the CDS System displays all recorded strips side by side.

This make it possible to guide compaction more effectively and reduce the roller passes to a minimum. A uniform and lasting compaction is assured and documented on paper or PC shortly after completion of compaction work.

Benefits for the roller manufacturer

Required on developed markets

User-friendly - only a quick-guide needed

Graphical display - higher precision with four (4) shades and 0.5 m resolution

Smart functions - Gradient to see tendencies and Diagram for detailed picture.

PC analyses are possible

Printing is possible

Movable display unit

INPUT: Strip Length,
CMV accept value,
CMV limits
grey shades and Start section
OUTPUT: CMV, RMV, frequency, speed, data files for a PC and memory for maximum 32 areas or 400 000 m2 .

If the RMV (double jump), frequency or speed deviate too much it will be indicated.

How does the CDS function?

The CDS-cable (3) connects the CDS display (1) electrically to the Compactometer/Oscillometer. The CDS display is positioned visibly in front of the operator.

The Compacto-Meter-Values, CMV, from the Compactometer are recorded in the CDS and presented graphically on the display for each area being compacted.

A roller symbol on the display indicates the current position of the roller. The sensor (2) measures the length and speed of the roller.

To start recording, the operator presses the start/stop button (4) and the compaction results are instantly displayed.

After a completed compaction process, "one-page-ready-to-file" documentation, the CCC-report (se below), can be printed out on the spot.

Benefits for the end user

Time and money savings - (Contractor)   Quality assurance - (Investor)
Guide compaction more effectively - only where it’s necessary!   Attain a uniform compaction!
Demarcate quickly weak areas and guide necessary improvements!   Improve compaction by preventing reloosening and overcompaction!
Reduce the number of roller passes by preventing over-rolling!   Guarantee that "deviations" from the recommended compaction routine do not occur!
A complete picture results in a faster judgement of when and where compaction is finished!   Increase confidence that no further improvements are required, before starting on the next layer!
Make the selection of representative points for spot tests possible, which reduces the number of tests!   The documentation clarifies the reasons, in case a damage would occur!
Increase the roller’s lifetime by early warning of double jumps!   Increased competence will increase motivation!
